November 11 is a day that Canada and many other countries stop and remember the sacrifices made in the name of freedom. Men and women, who chose to serve their country, courageously took a stand for their beliefs and for those they loved, knowing that it could cost their lives. They did it anyways.

Many of the choices we have today are because of the sacrifices of these men and women who fought for our freedom. It is because of them that we have the freedom of choice.

In life, we are the soldier, and some of the battles that we face are procrastination, negative self-talk, inaction, and lack of commitment. If we lose at these small everyday battles, it becomes difficult to win the war of success. We have to remember the importance of small tasks. Every decision we make increases or decreases our chances of success.

Let us honour the men and women who fought for our freedom by exercising our ability to choose. Let’s choose to commit to our goals. Choose to live our values. Let’s choose to prioritize and perform to the best of our abilities. Let us remember that their sacrifices mean we get to choose the life we want to lead.

Choose wisely.

LEST WE FORGET

“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.”

John Diefenbaker
